Berkeley County School District wishes to recognize the band programs at Stratford High, Berkeley High and Hanahan High for placing in the 2021 South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA) state championship.

Stratford High placed 10th in the 5A Finals, finishing in the Top 10 5A Bands in the state. The Marching Knights received a “Superior” rating in both Prelims and Finals. This is the fifth year Stratford High has made State Finals in 4A/5A – 2008 was the last time the school made a 5A Finals appearance. The 5A Prelims and Finals events were held Nov. 6 at Irmo High.

Hanahan High finished with its best ranking since 2017; the Marching Pride band program ranked eleventh best in the state in the class 3A division.

Meanwhile, Berkeley High placed 15th in the 4A division. Both events took place on Oct. 30. Hanahan High competed at Batesburg-Leesville High School and Berkeley High competed at Spring Valley High.
