Lifting some weights to be healthier, making more money to eventually buy Mom a Mercedes, eating two apples a day to keep the doctor away – just some ideas one third-grade class came up with to better themselves in 2020.

January 2020 is the start of a new semester at school, but it also an opportunity to set some personal goals for the year, also commonly known at New Year’s Resolutions.

Jessica Reininger’s third-grade writing class at Nexton Elementary have a pretty good grasp on the concept, and came up with some good ideas during class on Jan. 9.

“What IS a resolution?” she asked her writing class on Thursday.

Overall the students nailed it: a way to better one’s self this year.

“What is a good example of resolution?”

Working out more, limiting technology, getting a new job – or doing better at your current job, were some of the students’ examples.

Check out some of the things Reininger’s students came up during a writing prompt asking them for their New Year’s Resolutions. Students were also asked what steps they would take to achieve their goals, and how their resolution will benefit themselves and others.
