Help provide backpacks to BCSD students in need by eating at Raising Cane's on Friday

Published Wednesday, May 15, 2019

This week community members from all over the Lowcountry have the opportunity to support one of the largest and most positive undertakings Berkeley County School District works to host each year.

On Friday, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., those dining at Raising Cane’s locations in North Charleston and Mount Pleasant will be able to mention Berkeley County School District and have a percentage of their order donated to the OneBerkeley Initiative.

The OneBerkeley Initiative is a county-wide celebration of education and continued student success. It primarily benefits the OneBerkeley Back to School Festival, during which the school district and community members gather to provide backpacks and school supplies for as many students as possible.

Last summer approximately 4,000 backpacks stuffed with school supplies were provided to students in need, and as Berkeley County continues to grow, we hope to also expand what the OneBerkeley Back to School Festival is able to provide.

Raising Cane’s has committed to donate 15 percent of all sales on Friday made from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the two locations mentioned above, as the company values supporting communities and education.

As always, we appreciate any and all support for the OneBerkeley Initiative. If you are unable to support this fundraiser but are interested in other ways you might be able to contribute to the OneBerkeley Initiative, please email our Office of Communications at
