Student Spotlight: Nexton's Sylvia Brinkley-Roach finds inspiration in books

Published Friday, November 2, 2018

Nexton Elementary's Sylvia Brinkley-Roach believes in taking action when there's a need and leading by example.

Like many students featured in our Student Spotlight segments, she also believes in never giving up.

"Never give up. Always pursue your dreams," she says.

The 4th-grader recently saw the school's garden was looking "not so good." She's now created a nature club at the school that's focused on maintaining the garden and learning more about gardening and nature.

Sylvia finds inspiration in books and believes if more people read books, the world would be a better place.

If you're ever at Nexton Elementary for lunch, she recommends the Texas toast.

The interview with Sylvia Brinkley-Roach above is one of several in a series of Student Spotlights. All of the interviews can be viewed at www.bcsdschools.net/studentspotlight.
