As many of you are aware, the Omicron variant of the coronavirus has spread throughout our nation and state. Berkeley County School District (BCSD) leadership receives regular updates from Berkeley County Emergency Management and follows updated guidance as provided by SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC). We will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on our communities and utilize practical measures to provide the safest environment possible for our students and employees.

COVID-19 school testing locations and COVID-19 symptom information
Berkeley County School District (BCSD) offers drive-through, appointment only COVID-19 testing for BCSD students and staff at the following locations:
- Cane Bay Elementary School from 4:00pm – 5:30pm
- Mount Holly Elementary School from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
- St Stephen Middle School from 3:30pm – 5:30pm
- Westview Middle School from 3:30pm – 5:45pm
- Whitesville Elementary School from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
To make an appointment and be screened for testing eligibility, students and staff are asked to contact their school nurse during school hours. Currently, families of students, families of employees and community members are not eligible to participate.
The CDC reports people with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms -- ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Please watch for the following.
- Fever or chills
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body aches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
This list does not include all possible symptoms. Individuals experiencing symptoms are encouraged to get tested and isolate at home while results are pending.
