Teams from Berkeley County School District finished first and second in the Mu Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi’s Black History Quiz Bowl last month.
For the team of students from Goose Creek High School, it was their second win in a row and another chance to compete on the state level. Last year the team from Goose Creek won the state competition and faced a team from North Carolina in a regional competition.

This year was the first year a team from Westview competed in the middle school division. Team sponsors say their partcipation spawned from a student expressing his desire to compete.
Tryouts were held at the school and four team members and an alternate were selected. The Westview team practiced for several weeks before the competition.
"We are proud of our 2nd-place finish and look forward to competing again next year," said team sponsor Victoria Morris.
The event at Burke High School was held on Saturday, February 17 with teams from local elementary, middle schools, high schools and church groups competing on their age levels.
