Hundreds expected for BCSD Teacher Recruitment Fair

About 500 teachers have pre-registered for the annual BCSD Teacher Recruitment Fair scheduled for this Saturday. Many more are welcome and expected as walk-ins.
The event at Cane Bay High School is among the most important in Berkeley County each year, as school administrators from every campus will be looking to connect with qualified teachers from outside of the district and teachers in the district exploring opportunities.
It’s low-stress, but those attending should know professional dress is expected and some interviews may happen “on the spot” at the event. Administrators have also been known to open their offices for interviews and tours after the recruitment fair.
Bottom line – if you are a teacher and can make it to this event, it’s in your benefit. There will be updated information on positions available, and ample opportunities to make an impression with leaders at all schools.
“You can talk to anyone you want to talk to. You can walk around and get information from every school,” said BCSD Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Karen Whitley.
While the goal is to provide the best teachers for students in the district, Dr. Whitley said the message she wants everyone in attendance at the event to leave with is “children come first in Berkeley County School District.”
Coffee and other refreshments will be available at the event. It's expected to last from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
