Five groups of fifth grade students at J.K. Gourdin Elementary School recently participated in a children’s book contest promoting the history of electrification in South Carolina.

One of those five groups of students from Pineville claimed first place in the ElightenSC Children’s Book Challenge sponsored by Berkeley Electric Cooperative.

The book written and illustrated by students in Ms. Clarissa Milligan’s class is now entered into a state-wide book contest after which a winner will be announced on Friday, April 6.
