Goose Creek, BCA drama festival participants and their winnings

Goose Creek High School and Berkeley Center for the Arts showed a ton of spirit at this past weekend’s S.C. Thespians Festival at Winthrop University in Rock Hill.

In fact, the group showed so much spirit that it claimed the Spirit Award at the event.

The group of students also claimed several individual awards and recognitions.

  • Meghan Byrne received a SUPERIOR and advanced to the national competition for her solo musical performance of Little Girls from Annie.
  • Meghan Byrne and Alyza Ablang received a SUPERIOR and advanced to Nationals for their scene from the play 'Night, Mother.
  • The one act performance of the play Every Brilliant Thing received the following awards: 
    Outstanding Student Direction by Kastor Collier; Superior Ensemble Acting by Alyza Ablang, Grace Alviz, Meghan Byrne, Troy Jennings, Khalid Mitchell, Joey Mohlenhoff, Nikki Price, Christopher Priest, Emily Salisbury and Adrian Zamora and Superior Acting by Troy Jennings.
  • Kastor Collier was awarded the Blair Beasley scholarship for $1000.
