Seventeen schools, nearly 4,000 students and 150 Berkeley County teachers participated in the annual Kids Who Care project competition this year.
The annual competition at Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner is designed to "help students develop a sense of responsibility and become an influence in their homes and eventually the community."
Of all the BCSD teams participating, 10 were recognized at the annual awards ceremony and presented with cash grants to purchase items for further environmental teachings. With the help of business and industry partners, Kids Who Care has awarded more than $95,000 in grants since it began the competition.
This year, first place projects received $500; 2nd place projects received $300; 3rd place projects received $200 and projects receiving Honorable Mention received $100.
