After it's first-ever trip to the VEX robotics national competition over the summer, the College Park Middle robotics team is starting a new season of design, presentation and challenges off strong.
On November 10, CPM Robotics won the Design Award and the Judges Award at the Gregg Middle School VEX Qualifying Tournament.
Winning the design award advances CPM Robotics to the SC State VEX Competition for the second-straight year. It also qualifies the team to compete in the CREATE Foundation US Open in Council Bluff, Iowa.
The Judges Award goes to a team the judges decide is deserving of special recognition. Judges consider a number of possible criteria for this award, such as team displays of special attributes, exemplary effort and perseverance at the event, Team accomplishments or endeavors throughout the season that may not fall under existing awards, but are nonetheless deserving of special recognition, may also be considered.
The Design Award is presented to a team that demonstrates an organized and professional approach to the design process, project management, time management and team organization. The team’s engineering notebook is a clear, complete documentation of the team’s design process. The winning team is able to describe how they implemented an efficient and productive design process to accomplish the project goals.
"We are so proud that our students are demonstrating the problem-solving and soft skills it will take to be successful in their future endeavors!" CPM robotics teacher/coach Lisa Muggeo said.
