November 2018 Facilities Update

The following Berkeley County School District facilities/construction updates were shared during the Tuesday, November 13, 2018 board meeting. The updates were shared as information only, with no decisions to be made. 

Philip Simmons High: Maintenance crews are currently working on three final "punch list" items. Once complete, the project will be closed.

Bowens Corner Elementary and Foxbank Elementary: Playground installments at both schools have been completed. Crews are currently working on "punch list" items. Both schools are now in the 1-year warranty period.

Berkeley Educational Center: The contractor is installing interior finishes and painting. On the exterior, brick work and the roof of the multipurpose room are being completed. It's expected the project will be completed by January 25, 2019. 

Berkeley High: The final work on the new tennis courts began. Court sealant and lights are being installed. The fence work and renovation to the old gym were completed. The renovation of the old gym included resurfacing of the court and painting. 

Hanahan Elementary: The LED lighting project will be completed. Hanahan Elementary is the fourth facility where LED lights have been been installed this school year. The retrofit of LED lighting is expected to save the district approximately $8,000 each year, per facility. New LED bulbs have a 10-year life expectancy.

Mt. Holly Elementary: Crews are currently in the planning stage of work on the school's building envelope. Crews are also in the planning stages of HVAC replacement, window replacement, exterior painting and roof work. All improvements at Mt. Holly Elementary are expected to be complete by June 30, 2019.
