If you plan on attending one of the several Berkeley County School District high school graduations to be held at the North Charleston Coliseum, there’s a new policy you should be prepared to see enforced.

In January 2018 the North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center implemented a new clear bag security policy.

The new policy regulates the sizes and types of bags that can be brought inside the North Charleston venues.

Similar policies have been implemented in venues around the country for the last several years. This past school year, BCSD implemented a clear bag/no bag policy.

Those attending graduations at the North Charleston Coliseum are discouraged from bringing bags, however the following will be permitted:

-       Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 14” x 6” x 14”

-       One-gallon plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)

-       Small clutch bags, with our without a handle or strap, not to exceed 4.5” x 6.5”

-       An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at designated entrance specifically for this purpose.

-       Diaper bags will be allowed for families with infants and toddlers. Child must be present.

Prohibited items include but are not limited to coolers, briefcases, backpacks, camera bags, fanny packs and luggage.
