It’s likely one of the most important events held each year in Berkeley County. The goal — to provide the best teachers possible for Berkeley County School District students.

The annual BCSD Teacher Recruitment Fair will be held Saturday, March 10 at Cane Bay High School. While it’s a professional event with a chance for potential hires and schools to each impress, it’s billed as “low stress.”

“You can talk to anyone you want to talk to. You can walk around and get information from every school,” said BCSD Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Karen Whitley.

Dr. Whitley said pre-registration is strongly encouraged but not required. She said the main benefit for a prospective hire to pre-register is to increase the probability that a district clearance interview will happen and the event.

It’s also not uncommon for other interviews with schools to happen on the spot.

“Some of our schools are known to open in the afternoon for a tour and further interviews for potential new hires,” Dr. Whitley said.

The event isn’t just for teachers interested in growing with Berkeley County School District. Dr. Whitley said it’s also a great opportunity for teachers already in the district to explore opportunities on other campuses.

“This is the one time a year that you have all the principals in one area,” she said.

While the goal is to provide the best teachers for students in the district, Dr. Whitley said the message she wants everyone in attendance at the event to leave with is “children come first in Berkeley County School District.”

Coffee and other refreshments will be available at the event. It's expected to last from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Interested certified educators should prepare for success, dress professionally, bring a resume and be ready to network.

Again, pre-registration is strongly encouraged but not required. CLICK HERE to pre-register.
