Four Cane Bay 9-10 grade singers have a jump on honor choir experience after being selected and participating in the 2020 9-10 All-Carolina Select Choir event this past weekend.
Ana Decena, Austin Davis, Raymond Peterson and Aliiya Geddis were among 140 singers selected from more than 600 applicants.
“The 9-10 honor choir is a great experience for our younger singers,” said Cane Bay High Director of Choirs William Bennett. “This gives these students an all-state caliber honor choir experience at the 9th and 10th grade level. They always get to work with world class instructors and hear the award-winning Wingate University Singers as well.”
In addition to the opportunity of working with the Wingate University Singers, participants gained clinic experience with the Charlotte Chamber Choir and Dr. Mark Stover from the University of Michigan.
Cane Bay High was the only school from South Carolina to participate in the event this year. The event has also been one that has seen singers from CBH for six straight years.
“I am so proud of the way these students represented our school, district and state this weekend,” Bennett said. “They have learned so much and are excited about bringing that knowledge back to Cane Bay.”
