The Berkeley County Board of Education approved the promotion of Mrs. Lindsey Brooke Melcher to Assistant Principal for Marrington Elementary at the Tuesday, July 9 board workshop.
Mrs. Melcher steps into the role after previously serving as Marrington Elementary’s reading coach. She’s spent her entire teaching career with BCSD, having joined the district in 2009 after graduating from the College of Charleston.
The years of experience in the district are among the things Principal Jennifer Theilmann says make Mrs. Melcher a “perfect fit.”
“She has the trust and respect of our teachers, students and community,” Mrs. Theilmann said. “They know who she is, what she stands for and that every decision that she makes is based around students and their success.”
In her first few days, Mrs. Melcher plans to spend a healthy amount of time building new relationships with staff and families of Marrington Elementary. She’s hoping to grow upon the partnerships she’s already made while welcoming an environment where “every student thrives.”
“Whether I am working with a student, parent or teacher, I feel a responsibility to be helpful and make any situation better,” she said.
Mrs. Melcher is most excited about working hand-in-hand with Mrs. Thielmann. She believes in her principal’s vision for the school.
“I look forward to partnering with her (Theilmann) to give the students a one-of-a-kind educational experience and memories that will last a lifetime,” she said.
