Dear Hanahan High School Faculty, Staff, and Community,

The Hanahan High School administration team, teachers, and staff members have collaborated to create an environment that is welcoming and safe for our students to return to the building on September 8th, 2020.  We intend to provide this environment to our students in an effort to continue the past successes that have been achieved in the classroom.

The spring of 2020 has challenged staff and students to find a new normal for learning, has connected us in new ways, and has required our education to be provided from afar.  What I have learned most through this process is how much I appreciate the expertise our teachers bring to Hanahan High School, the ways in which our students continue to work hard to grow and, overall, the appreciation for the little things in life - giving a high five, a hug or being able to laugh out loud with many people around.  What I MOST appreciate about HHS is how even under circumstances we have never experienced, we are still a learning and caring community.

“Normal” is such a simple word and it is our goal at HHS to not only find our new normal, but to use this time as a learning experience that will forever impact our learning environment.  Our fall semester may not be “normal,” but our learning will not only continue, it will thrive.  We can’t wait to move on to the next phase of learning and we know all returning and new students to HHS will be welcomed with open arms (from 6 feet away) and we will continue to grow!

Our students, teachers, administration, faculty and staff will continue to work in line with the Berkeley County School District work and life skills in mind as well as the Hanahan High School vision.

Our goal remains the same- All students at Hanahan High School will be provided the tools necessary to be successful upon graduation, while embracing lifelong learning and promoting the development of positive relationships among students, faculty, staff, administrators, community members, and alumni.

I look forward to making this year a great success!

    Take care,

    Tom Gallus
