Greetings! I am extremely delighted to join our state's adult education learning community and serve in the capacity of Director of Adult and Community Education for Berkeley County School District. I believe that all learners, no matter their age, are capable of moving mountains and reaching new heights of success when given the proper support. In Wade King's The Wild Card: 7 Steps to an Educator's Creative Breakthrough, he says "Because in the game of life, children have no control over the hand they are dealt. You, as a teacher, are the wild card that can make a difference in your students' lives." This quote resonates with me for a myriad of reasons, but I truly believe that we as educators can change lives. Every student matters, every moment of every day.
I am a native of South Carolina and a product of the public school system. I attended schools in Dorchester District 4, and earned degrees from Tennessee State University and The Citadel. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining the adult education community, I served as a science teacher for eight years and an assistant principal for seven years. I welcome the journey that comes with serving in a new capacity, and look forward to supporting the students and their families, teachers, and staff.
Warm regards,
Tiffany M. Brown
