I am very excited to begin my sixth year at DIS and my fourth year as a part of the Sixth Grade team. Prior to my time here, I taught three years at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, South Carolina and two years at Tri-County Technical College. I graduated from Furman University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. In 2002, I received my M.A.T. degree in English Education from the University of South Carolina.
My husband, Andrew, and I live on Daniel Island with our two daughters, Mary Kate, who is in sixth grade at DIS, Braelyn, a fourth-grader at DIS, and our dog, Comet.
Some of my hobbies are reading, skiing, camping, hiking and running. I think my marathon days are over, but I plan to run my fifth, half-marathon this fall!
This is going to be a fabulous year in which you grow as readers and writers! I look forward to guiding you on this journey! The majority of our assignments will be described and submitted, via Google Classroom. (If you would like to join our Google Classroom, as a parent, please send me an email with the email addresses I should use to "invite" you. )While students are getting their assigned passwords mastered, etc., paper copies will be provided. Remind, a text service, will be used to remind you of important due dates, tests, etc.
Should you want to review what we're doing in class each week, my website calendar provides a synopsis.
I look forward to our year together.
