Dr. Luci Carter is in her 16th year as principal of Westview Primary School. Dr. Carter was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Due to her father’s career in the Navy, the family moved often. They were stationed in Charleston several different times but she has also lived in Middletown and Newport, Rhode Island and Clarksville, Tennessee. Dr. Carter’s father eventually retired from the Navy and they stayed in Charleston, SC. In 1973, Dr. Carter graduated from Garrett High School. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the College of Charleston. She obtained her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Carter taught at Westview Elementary School from 1980 to 1992. Her classroom experience includes third grade, special education and kindergarten.
Dr. Carter is married to Wayne Carter, who is originally from Summerville. The Carters have 2 children, both of whom attended Westview Schools. Their son, Jeffery, is a graduate of Clemson University. Their daughter, Courtney, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Dr. Carter has 4 wonderful grandchildren, Carter and Caroline Creech and Huck and Reese Carter.
