    FEES were due Saturday, September 21 - All choral fees should be turned in ASAP.  Students will not receive their choral t-shirt, and this will begin to affect your ability to travel with us.  We accept cash, checks made to CBHSCBC and credit (paypal or square)  Additionally, students who have not paid fees cannot travel with us to Georgia Southern/All-state, etc. Please e-mail Mr Bennett with questions or concerns about this.
     
     
     
    OCTOBER 
     
    Friday, October 11 - SC ACDA Performance (Chorale and SC ACDA honor choir students) - We are meeting at Charleston Southern University at 10:30am.  Students who wish to eat in the Cafeteria need to bring $10 cash.  If students are not eating in the cafeteria they should bring a lunch.  We sing from 12:30 - 1:30 in the conducting masterclass and then perform with Charleston Southern at 3:30pm.  We will be done by 4:00pm.  Honor Choir Students will receive full schedules in class this week.  DRESS AND TUX!! All Chorale students need to have their Dress and Tux ready to go for this performance.
     
    Saturday, October 12 - SC ACDA Honor Choir performances.  
     
    Sunday, October 13 - 2 - 5PM At the OReilly's Auto Parts on North Main street (near Tractor Supply and Sangaree Bi-Lo).  See UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS below for more informaiton. 
     
    Monday, October 14 - Fall Concert Dress rehearsal 5:00pm - 8:00pm  MANDATORY REHEARSAL FOR ALL CHOIR STUDENTS.  STUDENTS WHO DO NOT ATTEND MAY NOT PERFORM FOR THE CONCERT.  ALL STUDENTS NEED TO WEAR THEIR DRESS AND TUX FOR THIS REHEARSAL, FULL DRESS REHEARSAL
     
    Monday, October 21 - Fall Concert (all choirs) - 7:00pm in HS Auditorium $5 admission at the door cash/debit and credit cards. 
     
    Friday - Sunday October 25 - 27:  Little shop of Horrors Presented by the Cane Bay Drama Company.  Tickets on sale now at http://www.canebaydramacompany.com/
     
    October 28 - Informal concert with Winthrop University @ 7:00pm in the Auditorium  - Chorale and Ladies will perform with Winthrop that evening.  Students should wear their 2019-2020 CBC T-shirts.

    ALL ORDERS ARE DUE OCTOBER 15TH AND WILL BE DELIVERED ON THE 21ST AT OUR FALL CONCERT:
     
    1. Doughnut Sales (Original Glazed or Chocolate Iced or Lemon Filled or Raspberry Filled or Kreme Filled - One variety per dozen, no combining in one box). Krispy Kreme offers our doughnuts to non-profit groups at a reduced price,  which are then resold for full retail price, or slightly higher. Pre-selling doughnuts to family, friends and neighbors or  selling doughnuts at high-traffic areas such as shopping centers or community festivals can generate significant funds.  Profit is $5 per dozen for Original, $5 per dozen for Chocolate Iced and filled donuts (listed above). 
     
    2. Certificates. Certificates are a great alternative to selling actual doughnuts. You sell certificates to family, friends  and neighbors, which they can redeem for one dozen Original Glazed® doughnuts (per certificate) at any participating  Krispy Kreme retail store. That way they still get the delicious Krispy Kreme doughnut experience, but can time it for  the exact moment their Krispy Kreme craving hits! Profit is $5 per certificate
     
    3. BOGO Cards. With a BOGO Card, customers get a free dozen Original Glazed® doughnuts with the purchase of a doz- en of their choice. Their card gets punched each time they use it, and they can use it up to 10 times (limit 3 free dozen  per visit). Please Note: Partnership cards and certificates are valid only at participating Krispy Kreme retail stores. They  are not redeemable at grocery stores or convenience stores or any other location that is not a Krispy Kreme retail  store. Profit is $10.00 per card.
     
    4. Coffee. Krispy Kreme’s Signature Coffees are available. Try one of our great coffee blends available in 12 oz. bags on their own or with our other fundraising products. Profit is $4.00 per bag.

    2 ways to earn money!!
     
    1) Pre-sell tickets.  Students may sign out tickets from Mr Bennett.  They are $5 for cars and $10 for trucks with 100% of the ticket price going directly to the student who sells them!!  They return the money with any unsold tickets to Mr Bennett.  Students who sign out tickets are responsible for selling them or returning them.  Any lost tickets will be charged to the student's account. 
     
    2) Come and wash cars!!  Students and parents are asked to bring a bucket and rags/washing gloves/sponges with them.  All money earned in WALK-UP sales will be evenly distributed across all that attend and help (money will be distributed on a per hour basis, i.e. if you can work 1 hour, you get credit for one hour, if you work all 3, you get credit for 3 hours.  Parents can also receive credit for your student!)  HELP US SPREAD THE WORD AND RAISE FUNDS FOR MOBILE AND DISNEY!!

    2019 State Champions!

    On Thursday, April 25, 2019, Cobra Chorale and Ladies Honors Choir traveled to Laurens, SC for performances at the Palmetto State Choral Championships.  We competed against 20 of the best choirs from across SC. 
     
    Ladies Honors Choir earned 1st place in the Division 5 Women's Choir Category and were 2nd overall in Division 5!  Cobra Chorale earned 1st place in Division 6 (the highest division) mixed choir and 1st Overall in Division 6!  Additionally, Ladies Honors Choir placed 5th overall regardless of class and were the top Treble ensemble at the festival earning the Treble Choir State Championship for the 2nd year in a row!  Cobra Chorale was named the GRAND CHAMPION of the festival marking our 2nd State Championship!!
     
    Bravo to our students for their work!!  Thank you all for your support of our students this year!  We hope that this brings some Cobra Nation pride to you and that we have represented our school and community well!  Go Cobras!!

     The Cane Bay High School Cobra Chorale has been invited to perform on the SC ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) Fall Conference, October 5th - 6th, 2018 in Charleston, SC.  They will be the featured performing group on the opening concert of the Conference and will perform for approximately 500 students from across SC and 100 choral directors from SC and across the country!  This is a huge honor for the Cobra Chorale. This will mark the 2nd SC ACDA performance for this choir and the 6th conference performance of any type in the choir’s short 11 year history!

    The Cane Bay High School Ladies Honors Choir has been selected to perform on the 2019 South Carolina Music Educators' Association In-Service Conference in Columbia.  They were selected through a blind audition process, and adjudicated by a panel of choral professionals from around the state.

    They will perform a 25 minute featured concert for choir directors and musicians from across SC and the country!  The conference will be held February 8-9, 2019 in the Columbia Convention Center. This is a huge honor for these students.  We are honored and humbled to be performing for the musicians of our State.

    This will mark the 1st SCMEA performance for this choir and the 2nd conference performance of any type in the choir’s short 11 year history!

    About Us:
     
    The Cane Bay Choirs, under the direction of William Bennett are 5 choirs comprised of 200 students in grades 9 - 12. The Cobra Chorale were the 2016 AAAA SC State Champions, and performed at the 2016 Southern Division ACDA Convention. The Ladies Honors Choir was the 2016 Lander Choral Festival Grand Champion, and performed at the 2015 SCACDA Convention. Cane Bay Choirs perform 4 major concerts each year with great reviews from parents and faculty. The Choirs also provide the National Anthem and Alma Mater for all home football games, basketball games and school assemblies and perform at many community events throughout the year. Students in the Cane Bay Choirs participate in the SCACDA State Honor Choirs, the SCMEA All-State Chorus, the Berkeley County All-County Chorus, the ACDA Regional and National Honor Choirs, the SCMEA Solo and Ensemble festival and the SCMEA State Choral Festival.
     
    Cobra Chorale:

     

    The Cobra Chorale is the top performing mixed voice ensemble at Cane Bay High School in Summerville, SC. In addition to 4 major concerts annually, they also perform at school and community functions, present an annual Holiday Madrigal Dinner, and perform on the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston.  The Cobra Chorale has performed featured concerts at the 2016 Southern Division ACDA Conference, the 2015 and 2011 SCMEA State In-Service Conferences, the 2018 and 2013 SC ACDA Fall Conference and the 2012 North Charleston Arts Festival. Cobra Chorale consistently receives "Superior with Distinction" ratings at State and Regional Festivals, and were named the 2019 Palmetto State Choral Championships’ Grand Champion.  Additionally, they were the Grand Champion of the 2018 Georgia Southern Invitational, the 2017 College of Charleston Invitational and were the 2016 AAAA SC State Champions. Students in the Cane Bay Choirs participate in the ACDA State, Regional and National Honor Choirs, the SCMEA All-State Choirs, the Berkeley County All-County Chorus, 9-10 All Carolina Select Choir at Wingate University, the SCMEA Solo and Ensemble festival and the SCMEA Concert Performance Assessment.

     
    Ladies Honors Choir
     

    The Cane Bay High School Ladies Honors Choir is the top performing treble ensemble at Cane Bay.  The Ladies Honors Choir performed a featured concert at the 2015 SC ACDA State Conference, were the 2016 Lander Choral Festival Grand Champions and consistently receive Superior Ratings with Distinction in performance and sight-singing at the SCMEA Concert Performance Assessment. In addition to major concerts, the Ladies Honors Choir performs at school and community functions throughout the year, and present an annual performance of the Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten. Members of this ensemble also participate in State, Regional and National ACDA Honor Choirs; the 9-10 All-Carolina Select Choir; SCMEA All-state Chorus; BCSD All-county chorus; and Solo and Ensemble festival.

     
    Concert Choir:
     
    This class focuses on music reading, fundamentals of singing and performance, and prepares students for advancement in the choral department by focusing on upper level choral technique, sightreading and musicianship skills, music theory and music history. No audition is required for placement into this ensemble. This class is fast paced and will performs on all major concerts as members of the Concert Choir. William Bennett, Director of Choirs.
