Students are encouraged to read over the summer. Studies have shown that reading achievement is significantly higher in students who read over the summer.

Assignment: Students will take part in a seminar/writing assignment within the first weeks of the semester they are enrolled in English. Newly placed or registered students have thirty days from entry to complete assignments.

Monday - Thursday: 8:15 am-4:15 pm
Friday: 8:15 am - 4 pm
Passes are required during class period. Be prepared to present your pass and sign-in once you enter the Media Center.
All students may check out up to five books at a time. Fiction and non-fiction books are checked out for a two-week period, while Reference books are only available for overnight checkout. Students may renew materials by coming to the Media Center. Overdue fees are charged for all overdue materials, and all fines must be cleared before checking out additional materials, with the exception of class sets.
Printing may be done in the Media Center. A student's first four pages printed are free each day. A student must pay $.10 a page if they go over that threshold.
South Carolina Young Adult Book Award Contest:
The CBHS Media Center participates in the South Carolina Book Award Contest. Teens from around the state read at least 3 books from a listing of 20 selected new Young Adult titles and vote on their favorite. Please visit this link YABA Books or come to into the CBHS Media Center to receive information about these titles.
Plan on joining the book club, it's never too late to join! We meet during all 3 lunches, all are welcome! See Media Center Staff for information.
