Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Katie Taie, Principal
Hello, my name is Katie Taie and I am honored to be a part of the Whitesville Elementary family! This is my fifth year as principal of WES. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Limestone College with Specialization in Creative Arts and Learning from Lesley University and my Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the Citadel.
I have had the pleasure of working in Berkeley County School District for the past 28 years. Prior to coming to WES, I served as an elementary teacher, elementary and middle level assistant principal, and BCSD Visual Arts Coordinator.
Our teachers are encouraged to be innovative and provide personalized learning as we prepare our students for the future. Our goal is to provide an environment where every child feels worthy of respect. Children are more apt to take risks at learning when they feel confident that they will be treated with dignity. I believe the main aspects of my role are to provide a safe environment for students to learn and for people to work, to provide instructional leadership that sets high expectations for teaching and learning.
I am here for every student, every parent, and every family as a partner in education. I believe that the student should always win in our conversations, actions and plans. We will work together to help our students develop a strong academic foundation, a sense of right and wrong and effective work and life skills.
We are always striving to find ways to strengthen our partnerships with our families and the community. I hope this website will help you find some areas to get involved at our school. Please don't hesitate to email me at email@example.com or by phone at 843-899-8880 or simply stop by if you would like to discuss our school and how we can better serve your child.
