Cadet Leadership
-
For the summer of 2021, Philip Simmons High had six AFJROTC cadets participate in the Cadet Leadership Course at The Citadel.
The week-long course focuses on communication, teamwork and of course, leadership. It began on June 21 and ended on June 26.
Cadets stay in the dorms, eat at their dining facility, and have different classes throughout the campus. Cadets are also provided a Citadel Briefing.
PSH cadets were among 250 participants from 18 different high schools. All cadets are assigned a flight and remain with the flight throughout the camp. They do all activities as a team, to include practicing drill, sports, leadership labs, and more. The flights are graded and an Outstanding Flight is named. There are also other awards given, such as: Fastest time in the mile (top male/top female), drill, etc.
In order to participate in any type of JROTC activities, a student needs to be enrolled in JROTC. Any student can enroll; however, they must first all take the JROTC1 class.
Those interested in participating in JROTC activities at PSH should reach out to Lt. Chrisopher Ott or Chief Michelle Siau.
