Teachers must hold a valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate to teach within the Berkeley County School District.

There are ways to become certified through an alternative program  if you have a bachelor’s degree.  

Apply to the South Carolina Department of Education for a South Carolina Teaching Certificate.  The SCDE will be able to assist you with any questions you may have in reference to certification.

All teachers must apply to the South Carolina Department of Education and have an all clear FBI clearance before an employment offer is made.

References will be contacted prior to job offer. Three confidential references are required for employment as a certified teacher. Experienced teachers must request a confidential reference from a current administrator. New graduates must request confidential references from a cooperating teacher and a supervising professor.

Tuberculin Skin Test (TB skin test) - upload statement stating you will provide upon hire or updated results.
