Staff & Student Arrival/Dismissal
NOTE: These plans are subject to change. Any updates will be marked and dated.
We will begin opening car doors at 6:45am. Staff members on duty will wear gloves and masks.
There will be four morning drop-off points:
- Side Loop (grades 3-5)
- Front Entrance of Building (students who have classes in the main building)
- Front Stairs (K5 and 1st downstairs)
- K4 building
Students are not allowed to get out of cars until staff members open car doors. Each staff member will have a student roster that will include each student’s name, grade, teacher, and room number. Students will not be on this roster unless parents have chosen the traditional learning pathway. The staff member will check/mark the roster as each student departs the car. Once this has been verified, students will be given a tag for their bookbag. Students will be directed to stand on a red dot on the sidewalk and move dot to dot to proceed to enter through one of the 3 front doors. Once inside, students will be greeted by guidance counselors and will be directed to go straight to their classroom. Staff members will be stationed throughout the building to help direct students to class as needed.
A staff member will greet each bus. The staff member will have rosters for each bus with each student’s name, grade, teacher, and room number. Students will not be on this roster unless parents have chosen the traditional learning pathway. (If there is a student who is on the bus and should not be, the student will be asked to wait and parents will be contacted.) The staff member will check/mark the roster as each student departs the bus. A transportation tag will be placed on the student’s book bag and students will be told to go directly to classes. Other staff members will be in key locations throughout our building to assist students in finding their way to the classrooms. Older siblings will be allowed to walk younger siblings to class.
A staff member will greet walkers as they arrive. Each staff member will have a student roster that will include each student’s name, grade, teacher, and room number. Students will not be on this roster unless parents have chosen the traditional learning pathway. The staff member will check/mark the roster as each student approaches the building. Once this has been verified, students will be given a tag for their bookbag. Walkers will enter the building and be directed to go directly to their classrooms.
Employees’ temperatures will be checked and recorded upon entering the building each morning. Teachers will check each student’s temperature daily before entering the classroom. A daily temperature log for employees and students will be kept using an employee/student numbering system. We will maintain the student number ledger and follow all HIPPA guidelines.
Students will be dismissed in four locations:
- Side car loop (grades 3-5)
- K4 and K5 car line
- 1st and 2nd grade line
Third, fourth, and fifth grade students will be escorted to the 4th grade pod for dismissal. To allow for social distancing, students will be divided into small groups and have an assigned standing spot in one of the following areas: pod area, room 109, room 110, room 111, and the outside grassy area on the side loop. Students will dismiss from the back doors of these classrooms when their car number is called.
To allow for social distancing, K4 students will be broken into small groups. Some groups will remain in the classroom and some groups will wait in the K4 hallway.
When the student’s car number is called, they will be escorted to the car. Parents will be asked to buckle students into car seats.
K5 students will follow this same procedure in the K5/1st grade hallway.
First and second grade students will be divided into small groups and escorted by their teacher using the crosswalk.
Groups will be designated an area and standing spot under the overhang and roped off parking spaces.
Preparation - Cafeteria tables will be removed and/or rearranged to allow for social distancing of students who report to the cafeteria for bus dismissal. Student “standing spots” will be marked ahead of time. There will be designated areas in the cafeteria for our 4K-5K students who are bus riders to wait with their teachers. There will also be two other marked areas for students to stand while waiting and getting organized for the afternoon bus route.
Bus riders will be called to the cafeteria by bus number, one bus at a time.
4K-5K students will report to the cafeteria with their teacher. Then students in grades 3-5 who ride the first bus will report to the cafeteria to their standing spots. Students who have younger siblings will wait to be assigned seats until their siblings arrive. Admin will assign seats on the bus using a numbering system and following protocols. Students will board the bus with a card to hang above their seats. Admin will keep the full roster. A second bus will also report to the cafeteria and wait in their designated area. Another staff member will repeat the same process that was started with the first bus. Once students have been given a seat assignment card, then they may report to the bus loop where other staff members are on duty.
Students who ride SPED buses will be escorted to their buses by either the teacher or assistant from the class. The teacher or other staff member will have a blank bus assignment roster and will complete the roster before the bus leaves the school grounds.
Walker Dismissal (Front & Back Walkers)
Front walkers will report to the hallway closest to the downstairs elevator. Roll will be taken. Students will stand in designated spots and wait to be escorted by school staff to be dismissed.
Back walkers will report to the media center and go to their assigned spots that are socially distanced. Roll will be taken. Students will be escorted to the back of the school by staff members.
