The Summer Careers Academy is presented by the SC AHEC in collaboration with the MUSC Colleges of Dental Medicine, Health Professions, Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, and MUSC Library. The Academy is a one-week summer program designed to help underrepresented minority and disadvantaged students prepare for entry into health professions programs within SC. Students who apply and are accepted to this opportunity will take part in a week of sessions on MUSC's campus from June 7-12 with a final project at the end of the week. Housing and meals will be provided; fellows will receive a stipend of $200 upon the successful completion of the Academy. The University of Virginia is hosting the Cornerstone Summer Institute, a one-week summer camp at UVA where high school students learn about slavery and its legacies by exploring the University, Charlottesville, and area landmarks. Clemson University is hosting the Clemson Career Workshop (CCW) during two sessions this summer. This event is a week-long summer residential program that allows high-achieving rising high school seniors (current juniors) to get an inside look into Clemson University, while also learning college preparation tools. The free application is due April 13th. There is a $100 program fee if accepted into this program (financial aid available). The Stevens Institute of Technology (NJ) is accepting applications for Stevens Pre-College. Stevens Pre-College allows students to participate in hands-on, project-based learning; experience campus life; visit leading companies; and make their college applications stand out. Stevens offers opportunities to discover collegiate life both in and out of the classroom. Programs in engineering, science, business, computer science, music, and the arts are still open! Summer Internship for Juniors: Boeing SC is offering summer internships for current high school juniors interested in learning about the airplane manufacturing industry. Students chosen for this internship will support positions in engineering, information technology, materials management organization, tooling, reclamation of parts, and administrative work. BCSD rising seniors applying must be available from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Mon – Fri without interruption from June 12 – Aug. 6, and have reliable transportation to and from their assigned location.
