What is Motheread/Fatheread?
Motheread/Fatheread is an evidenced based family literacy program. Participants are engaged in learning how to select age-appropriate books to read to their children, how to extend the storyline of each book, to learn about child development, and to introduce parents to literature. This program is open to all adult family members. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians are ALL invited to attend!
What are the Program Components?
- Groups are lead by a trained Motheread facilitator.
- CPE will host groups once a month at our school.
- A variety of activities that promote language and vocabulary development will be used.
- Adults will learn how to engage children in the story-reading process, discussion questions, story-related activities, songs, and games.
