    Dear Parent/Guardian,

I excited to have your child in Spanish!  I want this to be a fun and enjoyable class for your child, as well as a positive learning experience.  This class will meet every day for one quarter. I encourage you to ask your child what he/she is learning in class and if he/she could show you what he/she is learning.

It is beneficial for your child to learn Spanish because we live in a worldwide society.  More than 400 million people speak Spanish worldwide and more than 33 million people speak Spanish in the United States.  Spanish is the official language of 21 countries. Spanish is the third most commonly spoken language in the world and the second language of the United States.

Speaking Spanish is a plus when your child looks for a job in the real world.  Many colleges also require 2 high school credits of a world language.

Materials needed: Chromebook, 3 ring binder with divider for Spanish or separate Spanish notebook, loose leaf paper and pencil

    1. Students will be able to read, write, listen to, and speak basic conversational Spanish.
