About Adult and Community Education
-
There are two facilities that offer adult and community education: Adult Learning Center at the Center for Academics and Innovation (in Moncks Corner) and Fishburne Educational Center (in Hanahan). We serve students 17 years of age and older, and we firmly believe that it is never too late to for anyone to achieve their goal of obtaining a high school credential, sharpening their academic skills, or learning English. All programs are available to registered students, and testing is available for both students and members of the community.

Head Start at Fishburne
-
Head Start is a federally funded comprehensive program that provides early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families. Head Start program's services and resources are designed to foster stable family relationships, enhance children's physical and emotional well-being, and establish a learning environment. The Head Start approach to school readiness enhances language and literacy, cognition, perceptual, motor, and physical development, social and emotional development, and approaches to learning to support children's learning. The Head Start approach to school readiness means that children are ready for school, families are ready to support their children's learning and schools are ready for children.
In addition to being a Berkeley County adult education site, Fishburne Educational Center is home to one of 11 Head Start locations in Berkeley and Dorchester counties.
