• Athletics: There are a variety of recreational sports that students may participate in through the City of Charleston Recreation Department. Students may also participate in Philip Simmons High School sports.

    Chorus is a class where students explore all types of music from folk to classical to pop through performance. They work to perform several times throughout the year. (Grades 6-8)

    Concert Band (Grades 7-8)

    DIS National Junior Beta Club is for students in 7th and 8th grade who have demonstrated exemplary scholarship and character. Students who are invited to join Beta develop leadership skills as they participate in various service projects. The club has over 150 members this year who are busy visiting the local nursing home, assisting with PTA events, organizing the Veterans Day celebration, conducting school clean-ups, honoring our local first responders, helping needy children enjoy the holidays, welcoming new students to DIS, and so much more! (Grades 7-8) 

    Drama Lights, Camera, Action! This class finds their inner actor through class activities including learning the basic skills necessary for theatrical productions, reading and analyzing plays and evaluating performances. (Grades 6-8)

    Elementary Chorus (Grades 3-4) 

    Run Hard is gearing up for its first season at Daniel Island School. Run Hard is an eight-week program that focuses on helping kids understand their potential when they work hard towards a specific goal. Participants will train to finish a 3.1-mile race while incorporating character values that will help them understand and reach their potential.
