BCSD COVID-19 Case Dashboard

  • As the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) works to track cases of COVID-19 across the state, there is an understandable delay in reporting confirmed cases in public schools. Berkeley County School District is committed to providing stakeholders with accurate and timely information, so the BCSD COVID-19 Case Dashboard has been updated to reflect the number of confirmed cases reported directly to Berkeley County School District. These numbers will be updated at least once each week to provide our community with a more accurate accounting of confirmed cases in Berkeley County schools, offices and buildings.

The content of this database is general information for each location. Any necessary contact tracing is conducted by SCDHEC. Again, this information is updated at least once each week. Please note the numbers of COVID-19 cases provided are numbers of confirmed cases reported to Berkeley County School District and are 10-day cumulative counts. Also, close contact numbers provided include internal and external close contacts on a 10-day cumulative count. An internal close contact is a person believed to have come in contact with an individual that tested positive for COVID-19 on one of our campuses. An external close contact is a person believed to have come in contact with an individual that tested positive for COVID-19 outside of school hours, off campus or in the community. The numbers of positive cases and close contacts reported may not reflect data obtained after normal business hours.

Key points about this data

  • The reporting does not mean that students, faculty or staff contracted the virus at school

    • Unlike a nursing home, where residents live at the facility, students, faculty and staff come and go from school and are active in their community and could come into contact with the virus outside of a school setting.

    Delays in reporting?

    • COVID-19 confirmed cases for district properties will be updated weekly. Any delays in reporting may be a result of case confirmation received over a weekend or while offices are closed for a holiday.

    Who is counted?

    • Individuals who physically attend school on a regular basis will be included in the counts. Sports coaches, tutors, part-time employees, kitchen staff, custodial and maintenance workers and other school employees with a physical presence in schools will also be included in these reports.
