Welcome to Bowen's Corner Elementary School
The Special Talent Enrichment Program (STEP) serves Berkeley County School District students in grades four through twelve who have been identified through auditions as artistically gifted in visual art, music, drama and dance. The program currently consists of a two-week summer session at one main school, and after-school programs at various sites in the county. Middle school STEP students are also eligible to enroll at Marrington Middle School of the Arts in their identify artistically area only. Students must audition to qualify for STEP. Music, drama and dance students audition before a jury composed of performing arts professionals. Visual arts students will complete their audition onsite. The audition seeks to identify students with outstanding potential in the arts, not necessarily those students who have had professional training. Audition requests, information and applications will be available in the front office of each school, and on the fine arts page of the district’s website.

Since, other students have begun to write books, and the student-author section of the library has grown to more than 40 titles.
At Philip Simmons Elementary, the kindergartners have come up with a project for the school that incorporates giving back during the Thanksgiving holiday, along with a well-known children’s book.
The BCSD administrative team is seeking input from the school community regarding the selection of the principal for Hanahan Elementary School.
On Saturday the students will gather across the street from Barnes & Noble at Mt. Pleasant Towne Centere to “can”-struct an exhibit resembling an iron gate and palmetto trees out of 6,000 cans that will later be donated to Lowcountry Food Bank.
Marrington Elementary and Marrington Middle School of the Arts are both located on Naval Weapons Station Joint Base Charleston. As you can imagine, Veterans Day is a big deal on each campus. At the elementary school, there was a parade. The middle school hosted several special performances planned by 7th-grade students.
Fourth graders at Westview Elementary recently completed a novel engineering challenge based on the book "Iggy Peck Architect." Students designed solutions for a bridge, shared ideas and navigated conflict!
