Press Release November 2016

Sangaree Elementary School – Award-winning School in America

Sangaree Elementary School receives national recognition as one of the healthiest schools in America by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Let’s Move! Active Schools program for outstanding efforts in creating an active school environment.

The Alliance is one of the nation’s largest school-based childhood obesity prevention initiatives founded by the American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation, where the Let’s Move! Active Schools program was launched by Michelle Obama to partner in the fight.

Sangaree is dedicated to empowering students, faculty, and staff to develop lifelong, healthy habits. As a recipient of the Bronze Award from the Alliance and the National Award from Let’s Move!, Sangaree has met or exceeded standards for serving healthier meals and snacks, district wellness policies, and 60+ minutes per week of high-quality physical education, and physical activity throughout the school day.

This award-winning school in Berkeley County School District has set the path for a healthy school environment for learning. The Wellness Warriors of SRE welcome you to celebrate the 2015-16 accomplishments:
