Mr. Brantley Thomas has been terminated from his position as Chief Financial Officer with the Berkeley County School District. On Sunday, February 5, 2017, the BCSD was contacted by its financial institution Wells Fargo Bank requesting a meeting with BCSD’s legal counsel and BCSD officials and representatives of Wells Fargo and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. On Monday morning, February 6, 2017, attorneys for the Berkeley County School District, Chair Sally Wofford, Vice Chair Mac McQuillin, and Superintendent Brenda Blackburn met with Wells Fargo and the FBI and were informed of an investigation into criminal misconduct by Mr. Thomas. Based on the information provided, Mr. Thomas was terminated.
Philip Simmons High School is proud to announce the hiring of our first Assistant Principal for Athletics! His name is Brion Packett. Mr. Packett currently serves as the Academy Coach at Stratford High School. Mr. Packett has three degrees: A Bachleor of Science Degree from The Citadel, A Masters of Sports Science Degree from U.S. Sports Academy, and a Master of Education Degree from Charleston Southern University. Mr. Packett has served the students of Straford High School as a teacher and coach for the last eight years. Please help us in welcoming Mr. Packett to the Philip Simmons Schools family!
